With the expected departure of Hector Del Carpio from Peru (to the USA), I recently met with our Peruvian leadership team. They will assume most of the responsibilities Hector has been overseeing. The team is excited about working together and continuing our current ministry work, but they are perhaps even more enthusiastic about our vision for expanding the ministry.
At our meeting, I laid out this vision for the future of our Peru ministry, and I asked each of the leaders there to pray about their part. I reiterated that Message Ministries is there not to dictate, but rather to assist them in fulfilling the call that God has given each of them in the various areas where they already work in and around Lima. I also shared that our vision is to expand into some of the unreached and lesser-reached areas of Peru by assisting them in sending out missionaries. In the January - February 2012 period, we plan to help them send two short-term, youth-mission teams from Lima to other parts of Peru.
Hector will be greatly missed by our Peruvian friends. He has put in many years of service, and he has a great heart for the Lord. Nevertheless, these leaders are thrilled about the chance to be more involved in the ministry work we do together. Their first decision as a team was to schedule a day -- once a month -- to meet and fast and pray together. Exciting times are ahead! Please continue to pray with us as we make this transition, and to pray for Hector as he prepares for his move to the USA..

CROSS STREET - PERU MISSION TEAM
The Cross Street Team spent a big part of their first several days in Peru building this pre-fab home in Pachacutec. What a blessing to these two sisters and their children to receive a new home. It's right down the street from the church. I used to see their old home and think about how poor their family must be. By God’s grace, the gift of a donor, and the hard work of the Cross Street Team, this family now has a nice new home. They even have electricity!
PERU YOUTH CAMP 2011
The Cross Street Team ministered in five public schools over two days. It’s always a blessing to see young people give their hearts to the Lord as we visit their schools.
This year's Peru Youth Camp was amazing. God did so many things in the hearts of the 150 young people who attended. Many gave their hearts to the Lord on the first night! And then things just kept getting better! We’re looking for a larger facility to hold next year's camp, and, as we announced to the youths, we’ll be sending out two Peruvian Youth Mission Teams this coming winter to other parts of Peru.
The team sponsored Eyeglass Clinic Outreaches in four different local churches. Hundreds of people left the clinics now able to see better, and others left with Jesus Christ now in their hearts.

PUBLIC SCHOOL MINISTRY
LIVING HOPE C.C - PERU MISSION TEAM
This team from St. Petersburg, Florida included only eight people, but they had a vision and a heart to do so much! One of their projects was building two pre-fab homes. You can see the first one pictured here. Pastor Fabian brought this family's need to us, and the new home is now an enormous blessing to them. The new homes have cement floors and electricity. The cost was $1,500, which was donated by Living Hope Community Church.
EYEGLASS CLINIC & OUTREACHES
Ron Bouvier & Daughter Dina hosted the Eyeglass
Clinic table and gave out glasses to those in need.
Lee Lockhart, one of the Living Hope Team members, taught basic safety classes and emergency first aid including CPR. These classes were conducted in three of the churches where the team also conducted the VBS ministries and eyeglass clinics. It was great to see the lights go on in peoples' eyes as Lee shared! Many people came to these churches for the first time just to take part in these various outreaches. The pastors and other leaders agree that these types of outreaches help establish the local churches in their communities and help bring new people to the churches.
PRE FAB HOME #2
2011 CROSS STREET PERU MISSION TEAM
This year's Cross Street Youth Team included twenty folks from nine different churches and three different states! It was a beautiful illustration of how people can work together if they are united to serve God, to love people, and to bring glory to His name. One of our best teams ever! Special thanks to all of our supporters for helping to make all of this happen. Your monthly gifts make all the difference in helping us to reach people with God’s love!
The second pre-fab home we built was for a widow, Maria Gladys, and her two children, Daniela (age 9) and Andy (age 10). For three years, since the family moved to Lima, They have lived in a makeshift thatched hut with a blanket for one wall, plastic for another, and no door. To see how they lived was heart-breaking, but to see the smiles on their faces as we finished the home made all the hard work well worth it. When we first arrived, Maria shared with Anne that “The Lord heard my cry for help because it has been raining a lot.”
